Today's reading: Deut. 10-12; Mark 16

Mark chapter 16 shares the story of three women who traveled to Jesus' tomb early on the third day after his death.  When they were walking towards the tomb that morning, each one looked at the other and asked a somewhat troubling question: "Who will roll the stone away?".  However, when they arrived at the tomb they were amazed at the fact that the stone had already been rolled away and a man, dressed all in white, explained to them that "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified, but he is not here.  He is going ahead of you.  There you will see him just as he told you".

There are so many times in life that we can feel like these three women.  We are headed into a situation that we don't know how to deal with.  We are approaching what can seem to be an insurmountable challenge; a huge stone that is blocking our path.  But the truth is, the stone has already been rolled away.  Through his death and resurrection, Christ has gone before us and has made possible what we thought was impossible.  There is nothing that can hold us back from experiencing all that God has for us.  Nothing can keep us from Him, just as he promised!  The stone has been rolled away!

Jesus, I praise you, because by your death and resurrection, I can now experience true victory in my life.  I thank you that there is no situation too great in my life that I cannot overcome through your strength and grace.  Thank you, Jesus, for making all things possible in your name!  Thank you for rolling away the stone in my life.

Sometimes the questions I'm fretting over are completely irrelevant once I get to where God is asking me to go!  The important thing, then, is that I don't let those questions keep me from moving forward.  It's interesting to me that these ladies didn't let the question of the stone stand between them setting out to perform a ritual over Jesus's body...but they did let the question of how people would receive the good news about Jesus keep them from sharing that He was risen.  It says, "and they said nothing to any one; for they were afraid."  It wasn't until Mary M later had a personal visit from Jesus, that people started sharing the good news.

Lord, I confess that sometimes I have more faith and zeal to accomplish dead rituals than to believe that people will receive the good news about You and that their lives will be changed forever.  I pray, even if it takes a personal visitation, that You will cause me to be so reassured of Your ressurection and its power that I can't help but share the news with others.
