Today's reading: Num. 21-23; Mark 6-7

The truth of God's Word is measured against itself, not what circumstances, friends, family or others may say about it. While in Nazareth Jesus was rejected, ignored and ridiculed by his neighbors and friends, preventing him from doing any mighty works. He was so stunned by the reaction to His ministry that "He marveled at their unbelief" (Marks 6:6).

Don't be disappointed in others or in yourself if people appear to reject the truth of God's Word. It is still true. Use wisdom and move on. Jesus compared personal ridicule for the sake of the Word to "dust on your feet" (Mark 6:11). God's Word is not defined by others, only by God Himself. You are not defined by others, only by God's Word.

I thank you, Father, that Your word is true and that You watch over Your word to bring it to pass. Today I will speak Your word with wisdom and not allow others to define me.
