Today's Reading:  Is. 40-42; 1 Pet. 3

From the reading today, the verse that stuck out to me was Isaiah 40 verse 11: “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” The heart of the Father is strong and tender. The heart of the Father brings comfort and peace. When he carries us we are protected and we relax.

A midwife once told me that until a baby is about 9 months old its heart does not always beat in a steady rhythm. Being near to the mother’s heart helps the baby’s heart to synchronize its beat. Baby’s love to snuggle and be held close – but they also need it. We too need to stay close to the Father’s heart; We need our heart to beat like His. When we are near to God we are in harmony with Him, and He brings us to a place of peace and rest.

Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd, and we are so thankful for your care. Thank you for carrying us close to your heart so we can remain in rhythm with you. Amen.

Sarah, this is a powerful and tender analogy to encourage us in our walk, thanks for sharing!
Love this analogy Sarah- wow, that our heart might be moved by what moves His!
