Today's reading: 2 Ki. 11-12; 2 Chr. 24; 1 Tim. 6

1 Tim 6:1 If you are a slave, you should respect and honor your owner. This will keep people from saying bad things about God and about our teaching.

If you were to bring this Scripture into the modern context of an employee/employer relationship, it really speaks something quite significant.  Our behavior on the work place and the way we treat our boss reflects who God is and what is said about our Church!  CCC has a relationship with a temp agency that we often send CCC members to who are looking for work.  Because so many people put this very verse to action, that agency believes that there is something special about our Church.  Every person works with excellence and respects their employer.  As a result, God is glorified and His Church has an excellent reputation.

Lord, help us to see beyond ourselves that we’re a reflection of You and Your Church.  Let us care so much about Your image that we are driven to be the best employees in this city.  We chose today to honor and respect our employers, not just when they’ve earned it, but for Your glory. Amen.

There's dignity in every job one performs if they adopt that attitude. And it's God who gives the promotion...
