Today's reading: 2 Ki. 8-9; 2 Chr. 21; 1 Tim. 4
In today's reading, 1 Timothy 4:7 jumps out for obvious reasons: "Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness." I like the analogy to physical fitness. In fact, I think that we often view physical fitness and spiritual fitness with the same misperception: that they are chores and obligations that we have to do for our own good. But this isn't true at all! Indeed, if you have ever been to a gym class or played a team sport, you have probably learned that there are so many ways that physical fitness can be fun, especially when you are doing it together with others!

We can carry that same principle to spiritual fitness as well. I think the 365 Devotional is a prime example of how we can all come together as a group and motivate each other through the devotionals that we are writing/reading and the life that we are receiving through a greater dedication to the Word of God.
Lord, we thank you for this awesome community of believers at Capital City Church. It's such a blessing to know that we have so many around us even right here on Capitol Hill to build our "spiritual fitness." Help us to manage our schedules and devote time to you on a daily basis. Amen.
