Today's reading: Prov. 30-31; Ps. 33; Eph. 1

Ephesians 1: 17-19

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe...

I LOVE this scripture! I find it particularly helpful as I try to navigate major decisions and transitions that are happening in my life. As I talk with more and more people who find themselves in a similar place, this scripture reminds me that the God we serve wants us to understand him intimately and desires that we know his calling for each of us.

Lord, thank you for allowing us access to know you and your heart for us more deeply. As we navigate life's decisions, illuminate the eyes of our hearts as you help us to truly know the hope to which you have called us. Amen.

I LOVE this scripture too!

Additionally while it's Paul's prayer for us, the Psalms gives us the "how" to understand him and know Him more.  Psalm 111:10 says, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.  James 1:5 says that all we have to do is ASK for wisdom and He will give it to us.

Essentially what we are asking for is more "profound adoring awed respect" for the God in our lives.  In giving God this deep respect, I believe our eyes will certainly be opened!
