Today's reading: Prov. 28-29; Ps. 60; Rom. 16

Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.

Look out!  It's a trap!  Letting the fear of man rule the way you live your life will ensnare you in mediocrity.  You'll never make steps forward that way.  At some point, we have to know that no matter what lies ahead, God will take care of us, even when other people let us down or make fun of us stepping out in faith.  I know people who are so scared that someone else will hurt them that they never have been able to have a serious, steady, romantic relationship.  They're stuck in a trap...missing out on a great thing life has to offer!  The reality is they very likely will get hurt by someone at some point, but if they will trust in God, He will always heal them and allow them to love again.  Our trust in God allows us to move out of the trap of fear and engage a world full of adventure (and pain), confident that God will always exalt us!

Lord, I decide today to put aside fear of what man may do to hurt me and fear of what man may think and I chose to live a full life, fully trusting in You.

Yup that's right! God's Word Translation says "A person’s fear sets a trap for him" but one who trusts the Lord is safe(prov 29:25); the message states that fear disables. Whether it's a trap or a disability, fear is bad. Fear involves torment and locks you up in a cage. Fear is so sneaky because it starts with a thought "what will they think"? "what will they say when they find out"? blah blah blah. Then it has you so locked up in chains that you view your fear as "protecting yourself". That's right, you may think that your isolation protects you but in all actuality it torments you. So why not start today by breaking out of the cage you built around your heart and start walking in the freedom God designed for you. Sure people may talk about you but....they're going to talk about you anyway no matter what you do. Sure you may face rejection but.....you are going to face rejection anyway because Jesus came to His own and was rejected. I can tell you it feels soooooo good to be free. Free to love, free to dance, free from intimidation, free from fear ah yes Free to live the abundant life God has.  What an awesome word Harrison! Awesome! Amen.
