1 Ki 6:7 says, “And the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built.” I think this is an interesting picture, that the stone used to build the house of God was worked on outside of the building site. It took human labor to finish the stone and build the house, but it wasn’t noisy with the sound of man’s work.

I think the stone being worked on outside of the temple could be compared to people we are reaching out to, building relationship with, 'working on'… we work on them at the quarry (our every day life) and bring them back to the site of the temple to build the house of God.

God, would you use us in building Your house, working on the stones at the quarry... If we don’t have anyone we are building relationship with, would you show us who to reach out to? Help us to live our lives out loud and not make the sound of our work dominate. Would you help us to do your work in the kingdom quietly. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

This is very humbling and reminds us to do things for God quietly, not boasting about our efforts for Him before people. Thanks for making the connection with something as basic as building the Solomon's building the Temple in Jerusalem.
Paul,

This is such a powerful thought this morning Paul...thanks for sharing it...it is the key to seeing our own lives built and the church
